Mercy Volleyball showed championship grit and resilience, storming back from a two-set deficit to defeat rival Birmingham Marian in a thrilling reverse sweep to win the 2025 CHSL Volleyball Championship.
After dropping the first two sets, the Marlins regrouped and executed a near-flawless comeback, taking the final three sets and securing a back-to-back league title. The momentum shift was fueled by a dominant defensive effort, clutch serving, and relentless offense.
Kate Kalczynski '27 was a force at the net, tallying 29 kills and 15 digs, while senior Maya Zarow added 17 digs and a team-high 3 aces. Setter Kaelyn Easton directed the offense with 49 assists and 12 digs. Cree Hollier '26 recorded 12 kills and one ace on the day. McKenzie Andrews '28 and Saniya Tucker '29 each added 7 kills to the Marlins' offense. Libero Kate Berghoff '29 contributed 17 digs along with 1 kill and 4 assists. Catie Kutcha added 2 aces to the Marlins' serving attack.
The win marks Mercy's second straight CHSL Volleyball title.
