Mercy High School honors a multi-sport senior Scholar-Athlete Leader each school year with the Nancy Malinowski Award. This award is in honor of Nancy Malinowski, aka "Mal," our former long time athletic director. She is also a former pro and multi-sport athlete. This award goes to to a multi-sport scholar athlete with a strong academic record, demonstrated leadership, well-recognized athletic achievements, good sportsmanship, character and demonstrates the Mercy Mission and Values.
Qualifications
- Good academic record over seven semesters: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a strong selection of courses in overall curriculum
- Well-recognized athlete: Winner of honors (local, regional, state, etc.) in two or more sports.
- Demonstrated leadership: Both in their sports and in the school
- Good sportsmanship: Viewed by teammates, coaches and officials as a role model in their positive behavior on the playing field
- Overall character: Consistently demonstrates behavior in alignment with the school's mission and values; loyal supporter of Mercy High School
