Mercy High School senior Campbell Flynn has been named the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year, a prestigious honor recognizing her exceptional achievements on and off the court. Flynn received the surprise announcement surrounded by family and friends, a moment that celebrated her hard work and dedication.
"Campbell was a clear choice for the award because of her commitment to volleyball, academics, and her community, and we're excited to give her this unique experience to celebrate all of her achievements," said Gatorade Chief Brand Officer Anuj Bhasin.
Flynn has been a driving force for the Mercy Marlins, helping lead the team to their second state championship in 2023. Her talents extend far beyond high school volleyball; she competed in the FIVB U19 World Championship, where she helped Team USA secure a gold medal. Her outstanding performance earned her a call-up to the U21 team, with which she competed in the FIVB U21 World Championship later that year. She was a key member of the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team that won gold at the
NORCECA Championships this past summer.
The 6-foot-3 senior setter has consistently showcased her skills on the court. This past season, Flynn recorded 730 assists, 188 digs, 131 kills, 52 blocks, and 36 service aces, achieving a .394 hitting percentage. Flynn concluded her high school career with a remarkable 1,973 assists and 737 kills. PrepDig.com ranks her as the nation's No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2025.
Flynn's contributions to her community are equally impressive. She has volunteered with PB&J Ministries and the Salvation Army and has dedicated time to coaching youth volleyball. Balancing these commitments with academic excellence, she has maintained a 3.94 GPA. Flynn will take her talents to the University of Nebraska, where she is set to enroll this January and continue her volleyball career.
Flynn follows in the footsteps of Mercy alum Jess Mruzik, a 2020 graduate, as both players have earned back-to-back Gatorade Michigan Volleyball Player of the Year honors and the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award.
With her achievements in volleyball, academics, and community service, Campbell Flynn has solidified her legacy as one of the most outstanding student-athletes in the country.
