11/24/2025 3:45:00 PM

Mercy captured the MHSAA Division 1 State Volleyball Championship at Kellogg Arena with a 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20 victory, earning the program its second title in three seasons and its third state championship since 2019. Ranked third entering the finals, Mercy executed a defensive game plan that centered on controlling Bloomfield Hills' top attacker, using disciplined blocking and timely adjustments at the net. The Marlins totaled 14 blocks in the match, setting the tone early by closing the first set on a 13–3 run. Mercy continued its momentum in the second set by scoring the final seven points to take a 2–0 lead. After dropping a close third set, the Marlins responded with critical defensive changes in the fourth, including shifting junior outside hitter Kate Kalczynski into a new position, which helped stabilize serve receive and extend rallies. Mercy then closed the match by winning nine of the final 11 points, with Kalczynski putting down the championship-winning kill. She finished with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Ella Andrews added 13 kills and two solo blocks, Cree Hollier recorded 12 kills, and freshman setter Kaelyn Easton totaled 44 assists and 11 digs. Maya Zarow anchored the back row with 24 digs as Mercy completed a 44-6-1 season and brought home another Division 1 state title.
