Mercy Tennis concluded an outstanding season with a runner-up finish at the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals, scoring 22 points to place second overall in the team standings.
The Marlins were powered by two state championships. Scarlett Menchinger '29 captured the 3 Singles state title, defeating Birmingham Seaholm's Milana Kest in a three-set championship match.
At 2 Doubles, Anna Naida '28 and Gabby Owens '26 earned a state championship of their own, completing an impressive tournament run with a straight-set victory in the finals.
Mercy also received a runner-up finish from Alexa Dueweke '26 at 2 Singles. Dueweke advanced to the championship match after winning four consecutive matches before falling to Birmingham Seaholm's Devon Rusk in the final.
At 3 Doubles, Kaitlyn Duneske '26 and Emily Thompson '26 advanced to the state championship match and finished as state runners-up after a strong tournament performance.
Additional points came from Keira Kirkland '26, who advanced to the quarterfinals at 1 Singles, and from Mallory Cooney '26 and Sydney Wilker '28, who reached the quarterfinals at 1 Doubles.
The state runner-up finish caps a memorable season for the Marlins, who also captured their first CHSL Championship since 2013 and their fifth consecutive regional title.
